As a token of solidarity with the Palestinian people, in the face of the Israeli aggression in the Gaza strip which has caused hundred of casualties, President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali has decided on Tuesday the following measures:

Tunisia: Country Receives United Nations South-South Cooperation Prize
Tunisia has received yet another distinction from a major international body.The United Nations has awarded Tunisia with the South -South cooperation Prize. During a ceremony held at the headquarters of the United Nations in New York, on the occasion of the UN Day of South -South cooperation, Mrs Neziha Gueddana, the managing director of the Tunisian National Board for Family and Population (ONFP) was awarded the prize in recognition of its success in setting up the “Kollo project”, a trilateral cooperation program between Tunisia, Niger and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) for maternal health, which Tunisia helped set up in the town of Kollo in Niger.

Egypt: ANHRI Calls for Action in Case of Internet Activist Detained in Saudi Arabia
On 21 December 2008, ANHRI said that the administrative judiciary court will review its recently filed claim on 20 January 2009. On 2 December, ANHRI filed a claim against the Egyptian president demanding the dismissal of the Egyptian minister of foreign affairs and the ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This action was brought in response to their failure, thus far, to take any action that might force the Saudi government to reveal the reasons behind the kidnapping of Yousif Ashmawi, an Egyptian internet activist who was arrested on 24 August without any reason being given and with no regard for justice.
